My journey in the design world, as most aficionados of creativity do, is waking up early to identify my passion. All scraps of papers, newspaper margins were subject to my unbounded ideas and innovations of the world around me. From moving my father’s study room into a new layout [obviously reprimanded for which] to cutting up old fabrics from wardrobes to fashion my shirts or belts [70’s sang-froid] innovative hands-on was my motto. From fascinating forms to vivid colourings, I have imbibed all schools of design in my almost self-taught and God gifted attributes.
Being a qualified professional in Architectural Design, I perused and was lucky to begin a career with Pierre Cardin in his French atelier and gain multi-disciplinary exposure. From assisting the Master in interiors of historic restaurant Maxim’s to choosing silhouettes of his seasonal fashion collections, it opened a world not known then in India - A Curated Lifestyle.
Fashion style exposed me to become a pioneer of Trend Forecasting in the country. Since 1995, I have spearheaded this phenomenon in the country with prestigious trend studies for trade fairs like Tex-styles India [Ministry of Textiles], Fashion Week India [FDCI], Heimtex [Frankfurt], India2000 [Hong Kong]. Interacting further with Nelly Rodi, the Parisian stalwart in the trend forecasting business, resulted in many more creative endeavours. I firmly continued creating a list of coveted clients, from my core business of Architecture and Interior Design practice. After more than 30 successful years in the creative fraternity, it still wakes me up with vigour each morning to stretch more imagination for a better life somewhere.
At Art Livings, we wish to create a life of vividly memorable experiences. Today we confidently and successfully deliver all aspects of my experiences into various verticals. We plan buildings, interiors, collections of furniture, textile art, curation of Art to lifestyles. Then come forward to firmly create it in the most beautiful and elegantly reality. It has been a fun, enriching journey till now. With new beginnings, I wish to make it more delightful and sublime with younger ideas.
